It is essential to make an appointment with a prenatal care provider as soon as possible. The earlier you start your prenatal care, the better chances you have of having a healthy pregnancy.
Eat a healthy diet
It is important to eat a balanced diet to ensure adequate nutrient intake for both mother and baby. Include a variety of fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and healthy fats in your diet. Believe me – It is just fine to indulge in your cravings but depending on what your cravings are, you have to be sure not to overdo it. At one point, I craved sunflower seeds. SALTY! SALTY! SALTY! I gave into the craving and kind of indulged daily for an entire week. I probably purchased 2 packs a day. The result of this was having swollen feet and hands, a tight chest, and headaches. When I told my doctor – she informed me that I was making my chances higher for Preeclampsia. So, try your hardest to eat heathy.
Stay hydrated
Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated throughout the day. One thing about water intake is – there will be a time where you can ONLY keep down water. Making sure you keep hydrated will save you from making your chances higher for preeclampsia, helps form the amniotic fluid around the fetus, produce more blood, promote your baby’s blood circulation, and regulates your body temperature.
Exercise regularly
Regular exercise can help you stay fit and prepare for childbirth. Consult with your healthcare provider on what exercises are safe for you to do during your pregnancy. If you do not feel up to a workout routine, just make sure to walk daily so you can keep a healthy heart and good blood flow.
Rest
You will need more rest during pregnancy, especially during the first and third trimesters. Try to get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night.
Take prenatal vitamins
Prenatal vitamins contain nutrients such as folic acid, iron, and calcium that are essential for a healthy pregnancy.
Manage stress
Stress can have a negative impact on both mother and baby. Practice relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or prenatal yoga. I was extremely passionate about tuning everything out and putting my feet up, watching tv. I refused to be stressed over things that did not matter more than my son’s health.
Avoid harmful substances
Avoid smoking, alcohol, and drugs, as well as excessive caffeine intake.

With Covid and all of the other unknown sicknesses floating in the air this is more important that ever.
